The European Union’s ("EU") General Data Protection Regulation ("GDPR") entered into force on May 25, 2018 ("GDPR Day"). For most organizations, the road to GDPR compliance has been a bumpy one. The EU bodies had made few guidelines available ahead of time, and even with the two-year implementation period, a number of EU member states had not taken steps to adopt domestic laws or scale up their data protection authority by GDPR Day.
The GDPR sets forth a new regime for the protection of personal data in the EU. It imposes new compliance requirements on both controllers and processors and also strengthens rights for data subjects. It has a new extraterritorial reach, impacting businesses that were not previously subject to the EU Directive, and introduces material changes that impact the manner in which businesses around the world use personal data.
Please join members of Mayer Brown’s Cybersecurity & Data Privacy practice for a one-hour discussion of the first 100 days of GDPR, covering:
News, developments and first enforcement trends of GDPR since GDPR Day
Lessons learned from the management of personal data breaches
The (unintended) effects of negotiating a data protection addendum
New laws that the GDPR has inspired, such as those in California and Brazil
This webinar will cover:
A short overview of and definitions from the GDPR and the CCPA
The key differences between the two privacy laws
The overlapping privacy requirements
Practical steps to initiating a privacy compliance project
Presented by Preston Bukaty, GDPR Consultant, IT Governance USA. www.itgovernanceusa.com/webinars
With more than 281,000 cases and $62.4 million in fines, the General Data Privacy Regulation (GDPR) has already made an impact. In January 2020, California's Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) will go into effect. Whether your company is already compliant or planning to be, one thing is clear: inaction is not an option. At least 11 U.S. states will soon pass data privacy laws, with more states and countries sure to follow.
Companies need to implement data privacy best practices. Instead of scrambling to follow the next wave of compliance rules, these best practices will safeguard your consumer data, build trust, help comply with existing legislation, and be prepared for all of the local, federal and international laws that are on the way. This webinar covers the data privacy best practices for remote access software.
Netop Remote Control offers the most secure, flexible remote access software that can help your company comply with GDPR and CCPA.
