The only solution for the future of Gaza is Palestinian ‘national unity’: Mustafa Barghouti
The ceasefire in Gaza is now in its eighth hour and 90 Palestinian prisoners are waiting to be released as part of an agreement between Israel and Hamas.
They will be transported by bus to Ramallah in the occupied West Bank.
Women and children prisoners are the first to be freed in this first phase of the deal.
Nearly 2,000 detainees are set to be released over a six-week period.
Three Israeli captives have already been released also as part of the ceasefire deal.
Doron Steinbrecher, Romi Gonen, and Emily Damari were handed to the Red Cross in Gaza City.
They've since been reunited with family in Israel 15 months after they were kidnapped by Hamas and held in Gaza.
They're undergoing medical assessments.
A total of 33 out of about 95 captives are due to be released in the initial phase of the agreement.
Mustafa Barghouti, the secretary-general of the Palestinian National Initiative, has told Al Jazeera that the only solution for the future of Gaza is "national unity".
