M23 rebels take Goma: Most of the city captured despite resistance
M23 rebels have captured most of Goma in eastern DRC, despite resistance from government forces. The armed group is now reportedly advancing south towards Bukavu. More than 100 people have been killed in recent days as fighting intensifies. The Congolese President says he is determined to recover lost territory but is open to negotiations, including with Rwanda, the key backer of the M23.
