Web Hosting vs Wordpress Web Hosting - Learn The Differences Transcript:
Hello everyone, Carson here and welcome back to my channel. Now in today's video, I wanted to give you a really quick rundown of web hosting, versus WordPress web hosting and what the differences are. Now web hosting is obviously just an umbrella term used for all different types of hosting.
However, there can be some distinctions drawn between web hosting and WordPress web hosting, specifically, usually and getting right into this WordPress web hosting will restrict your hosting type to only WordPress websites, which means that you can't use any other CMS or content management systems. On your hosting plan, you are restricted to only use WordPress only to be able to modify WordPress and publish WordPress sites. On the other hand, web hosting does not restrict you this way. And it lets you use a multitude of different CMS or content management systems.
Now you're probably wondering, Well, why is there even WordPress hosting? Why is it restricted like that? Well, the short and easy answer is that when they do that, it does a few things. And it provides a few benefits. Number one, it increases your security because you're not open to the threat of other CMS systems having a security breach and thus allowing access into your system.
Number two, the performance actually increases because the server you're hosting it on will be able to be customized specifically for WordPress, which is extremely good because then your performance, your latency, all of that is going to be much better. However, sometimes people want a bit of both worlds. They want to be able to modify different CMS if they want, but they want that increased customizability of the performance that WordPress hosting gives.
And actually, that is why I do recommend VPS hosting to my clients you see VPS hosting is basically the best of both worlds. In this case. VPS hosting allows you to customize your server or if it's managed VPS host have someone else customizer server to this specific CMS or CMS as you would desire. And it also doesn't have any backdoors like shared hosting does those you do actually want to check out a VPS host I've got a link to one in the description.
It's a great managed VPS host with a 99 point 98% automated security system guarantee which is incredible. And the uptime and speeds are fantastic as well. So if you want to check that out, head down to my link in the description that is pretty much the major differences between WordPress hosting and just regular old hosting though you are obviously going to be looking at slightly increased performance at the sacrifice of being able to experiment with different CMS. That is going to do it for today's video though. So remember, leave a like subscribe and hit that notification bell and I will see you in the next video.
